About Won & World
Won & World publishes two pieces every day: a Daily Brief that explains one important development in the Korean or global economy, and an Explainer that answers a question readers frequently search for — from how to buy Korean stocks abroad to what a rate cut means for your mortgage.
Korea sits at the crossroads of the global economy: memory chips, cars, batteries, shipbuilding, and one of Asia's most actively traded currencies. Yet much of the best primary data — from the Bank of Korea, Statistics Korea, and Korean-language press — rarely reaches English-speaking readers in a clear form. We aim to close that gap, and to connect it to the global picture.
How we write
- Primary sources first. We rely on central banks, statistics agencies, company filings, and reputable news organizations, and we link every source at the end of each article.
- Original analysis. We don't republish news. Every article explains why a development matters and what it could mean for readers.
- AI-assisted, with editorial standards. Our articles are drafted with the help of AI tools and checked against the cited sources under a written style and accuracy guide. If you spot an error, please tell us — we correct mistakes openly.
- No investment advice. We explain; we don't tell you what to buy or sell. See our disclaimer.
